Guidance on when a Display Energy Certificate (DEC) is required
HI Devon in conjunction with Devon & Cornwall Home Inspectors Association (DCHI) has compiled a guidance flowchart based on the advice given in a variety of formats by the government and the various accreditation bodies responsible for interpreting the regulations.
The current version is available here
What is the purpose of this document?
The Display Energy Certificate (DEC) guidance has been produced to simplify the decision making process for whether a building requires a DEC. It provides greater clarity than the flowchart issued by Communities and Local Government (CLG) which is included in this summary document
It is intended to provide a simple way to answer the question “Do I need a Display Energy Certificate (DEC)?”
This document is guidance for DCHI members advising on the need for a Display Energy Certificate (DEC).
It is also suitable for use by agents building managers and other property professionals advising clients on whether they need a Display Energy Certificate (DEC)
Approval for the logic contained within this document has been sought from the accreditation bodies. At the time of upload none have indicated any concerns.
